Raw Message At work, I have been assigned the task of programming an old Bridgeport EZ-Path I lathe. No one in the shop has any more than a casual knowledge of programming this machine, and the boss claims that this machine/software is no longer supported. Is there a Desktop or offline version of the software available? It would be great if I could acquire a Desktop version of the software so I could practice programming at home. Have an old computer with Dos 6.22 on it already. Also, does anyone know if this machine can be programed with g code? Raw Message Hi Dave, We had one of those where I used to work.

I liked the thing. What I remember: 1. You could see the G code the machine generated from it's software but that was about all. The one I used had a nice 'strong' motor, and gear drive. It would take a cut that was impressive (for the nature of the machine), sometimes it was hard to keep the toolpost 'right' however:) 3. Offline software, if I remember right we did have it.

However, I think they had to pay for it with the machine buy. You can't just load the stuff from the machine disks last I knew. The machine disks would load on a computer, however, they would go looking for axis drives etc so it would fail.

If you can't get software support, you should still be able to get a manual. The manual was 'pretty good' IIRC. The thing really didn't seem to need offline support, it was a breeze to program it at the machine. For the one off type stuff and collet chucking we used it for IMHO, it kicked arse. Regards, Sean. TIA Dave Hi Dave, You can run the machine software on a desktop (little trick) Do not install the software as you would on a normal machine as it will then turn your PC into an EzPath. What you need to do is copy and unzip all of the files on the software disk into a directory (of its own)does not matter what the name is.

Once all of the files are copied and unzipped you need to edit the EZ.bat file. In the EZ.bat file you will see a command line about 5 or 6 lines down (as I remember) ezpath M you need to change the M to a D. The machine made the software look for the machine while the D made the software look for a desktop. This should take care of your needs. Also you can write G code however you need to follow Bridgeport style G code. There really is no benifit to doing this as this machine was made to work best through conversational code. When loading a file you will see reference to 'load other ezpath files' the other files are standard.txt files or G code.
